In a street full of traditional houses and a very short stroll to Eastwood shops, the owners planned every aspect of this build to retire in and stay long term. Built in a flood prone area the ground floor slab needed to be suspended along with external stairs and even driveway.
The design cleverly concealed this requirement by giving the home a floating effect and concealing the block piers and underside by laser cut screening under the cantilevered concrete slab, this effect enhanced at night by LED strip lighting along the entire perimeter of the ground floor.
Aimed at a minimalist theme, all screening, garage door panels and front door were recessed and fitted flush with brickwork. A structural steel frame supported the skillion roof over glass on all sides allowing continual natural light along with a 10.5 metre wide sliding door allowing the kitchen, dining, and living room an uninterrupted view of a magnificent rear yard featuring a 22 metre long lap pool.
An amazingly beautiful home, it was a clear winner of the Master Builders Association NSW Excellence in Housing Awards 2025 for contract houses in its category. A very proud achievement by Jocon Building.
